The Only Brewery in the Westfjords

Dokkan Brugghús is a family-run microbrewery in downtown Ísafjörður, and it holds a genuine distinction: it’s the first and only brewery in the Westfjords region. The company was founded in 2017 and started brewing in early summer 2018, filling a gap in a part of Iceland that, until then, had no local beer producer of its own. The brewery sits at Sindragata 14, close to the harbour and an easy walk from the town centre — including from the Ísafjörður Inn.

The taproom typically pours around a dozen rotating beers, brewed on-site, so the lineup changes with the seasons and whatever the brewers are experimenting with that month — past batches have included everything from a rhubarb sour to a seaweed red ale. The signature pour is the Dynjandi IPA, named after the tiered waterfall in the Westfjords, brewed at roughly 5.9% ABV. For anyone who wants to taste widely rather than commit to a full pint, the brewery offers tasting flights of small glasses so you can work through several styles in one sitting. Food runs toward pub classics, with fish and chips as the standby if you want a proper meal alongside the beer.
